a moment with Shel Silverstein

I like Shel Silverstein’s work for children. I always keep a copy of Where the Sidewalk Ends, because it’s important to remember to be silly and creative.

Here is a poem that speaks to the heart of this life, no matter our age:

Listen to the MUSTN’TS, child,
Listen to the DON’TS
Listen to the SHOULDN’TS
Listen to the NEVER HAVES
Then listen close to me—
Anything can happen, child,

ANYTHING can be.
